Gynecomastia

Gynecomastia, which literally means feminine breast, is seen in 3 different periods of a man´s life. Although it occurs in male babies due to the estrogen hormone passed from the mother after birth, it will disappear spontaneously in the future.

During adolescence, breast enlargement, tenderness and even mild pain may occur. Sometimes this growth does not go away on its own, the enlarged breast tissue may need to be removed at the request of the patient. In the same period or in adulthood, more fatty tissue accumulation than normal in the breasts due to weight gain may also cause gynecomastia.

Breast tissue growing in a short time is not normal in older men. In these cases, imaging examinations for the breast should be performed and investigations should be made in terms of malignancy.

Gynecomastia Stages

Stage 1- The breast is slightly large, there is no sagging on the skin.
Stage 2- The breast is moderately feminine in size, there is no sagging of the skin.
Stage 3- There is an enlargement in the breast with a lower skin fold.
Stage 4 - There is an overgrowth and excess skin in the breast that hangs over the lower fold.

Gynecomastia Surgery Methods

Gynecomastia surgery with Vaser Liposuction;

If the reason for breast enlargement is the increase in fat tissue, vaser liposuction is the most comfortable method. Fat tissue is broken up and taken out through 5 mm holes on the sides of the breast. There will be no skin incisions or stitches. The operation is performed in an average of 1 hour, you can return to your home the same day or the next day. You will need to use a medical corset for 3 weeks after the procedure.

Gynecomastia Open Surgery;

Open surgery offers the most definitive solution for gynecomastia patients with hard tissue rich in breast tissue. For this, a C-shaped incision is made from the lower edge of the nipple and the breast tissue is completely removed. Since the suture line will remain in the dark area of ??the nipple, it will not be visible. Drains are placed and removed after 2-3 days in order to drain the bleeding and fluids in the form of leakage in the breast. The operation takes an average of 1 hour and you will be discharged on the same day or the next day. You will need to use a corset for about 3 weeks after the surgery. You can return to your daily life in about 5-7 days.

Will gynecomastia re-grow after surgery?

Since the fat tissue or breast tissue that causes breast growth is removed, there is no regrowth.
